World Soil of the Year 2025 Soil Literacy and Awareness Raising Workshop and Picnic
Venue: University of Miskolc / Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén Vármegyei Levéltára (UM) and Püspökladány Experimental Station and Arboretum, University of Sopron Forest Research Institute (SOE-ERTI)

Day 0 (12. November 2025):
19:00-22:00 Informal welcome wine-tasting party with a short introduction of North-Eastern Hungary and the surroundings of Miskolc (Miskolc Kis-Avas cellars)
Day 1 (13. November 2025):
Soil Literacy and Awareness Raising Workshop (UM)
10:00-10:30 Registration and coffee
10:30-12:00 Welcome speeches, presentations
12:00-13:00 Lunchbreak
13:00-15:00 Session work, presentations
15:00-15:30 Closing and coffe
15:00-16:30 Visiting the Treitz lecture-room soil monolith collection (optional)
Day 2 (14. November 2025):
WSY2025 Picnic (SOE-ERTI)
7:00 Start from UM by bus. Breakfast bag on the bus.
9:30-9:45 Arrival at Püspökladány and welcome speech by SOE-ERTI
9:45 – 10:00 Introduction of the soil forming environment of WSY2025
10:00-12:00 Visiting the World Soil of the Year 2025, and unveiling the information board and statue
12:00-13:30 Picnic, Gulash Party, wine, informal conversations
13.30-15:30 Visiting the Hortobágy National Park/UnescoWorld Heritage site (optional)
Travelling from Miskolc to Püspökladány is optional: by workshop’s bus or by own cars. The bus will drop the participants at the railway station of Püspökladány after closing the event (direct train line to Budapest) or will take the rest of the participants back to Miskolc.Train service to Budapest and to Budapest Airport is convenient from Püspökladány. There are also direct trains from Miskolc to Budapest.
Participation on the events is free of charge, but the travel to Miskolc and the accomodation will be payed by participants.
